On July 7th, 2012, The Emerging Trends Fashion Challenge will bring global attention to the evolving fashion market in Europe. Women’s apparel designers from all over the globe will compete for the chance to win the grand prize worth over $15,000, including $5,000 cash, complimentary participation at either the Cannes Loves Fashion 2013 or 5th Annual Boston Fashion Week Event – The Emerging Trends 2012 fashion shows, and major press coverage  and introduction to major boutiques around the world.

// The Emerging Trends - Paris Designer Spotlight : Rudy Wolff//

Written by Erica Markle | Edited by Claire Mitchel.

The Emerging Trends show is making its way abroad. First stop, Paris! The SYNERGY Events with HYPE Fashion is currently lining up contenders for the show that will be held on Saturday, July 7th at the Espace Saint Martin in Paris. The Paris Emerging Trends show will showcase the most elite group of rising designers from all around the world. This prestigious competition will allow these aspiring designers to showcase their work to judges, media, and fashion professionals. The designers will present their work in three rounds: past trends, present trends, and future trends. The couture collections will be judged by professionals in the fashion industry who will judge based on creativity, practicality, and ability.

The designer who comes out on top will win $5,000 USD, the opportunity to partake in Boston Fashion Week or Cannes Loves Fashion in France, a feature on multiple global trade publications, and the chance to meet with upscale boutiques in Europe to sell their designs to.

Meet our first designer, the self-made, multi-talented, and highly self-disciplined, Rudy Wolff. Wolff’s trademark is that his company focuses solely on the creative aspect of the designs. He describes his creativity as a “perpetual fountain of ideas.” With inspirations from high fashion photos, historical paintings, and older movies and television series, he already has a multitude of ideas for future garments and collections. He joined this competition in order to showcase his pieces in Paris, and hopefully, Cannes.

This competition particularly caught his interest because he will be able to show more of the facets of his collection since this show has three categories.
He was discovered at the big Oslo Fashion Week party in August of 2008, where he was wearing a jacket that he made himself. After being persuaded to start his own line, he debuted in 2009. From the point of view of the designer, the most difficult challenge to take on is being able to live up to the brand loyalty of customers who often shop in chain stores. With garments that are unique and completely different than these commonalities rising fashion designers have the ability to make their mark and overcome challenges.

His last two seasons were both created with re-purposed fabrics and leftovers from earlier collections. Dark Dawn, the completely black and blue evening wear collection, incorporated lots of little details. These bead-embroidered pieces were even suggested for the Oscars, by a New York Stylist! Golden Dawn was much different in that the designs were simple and the garments were more for an everyday wear. Wolff describes this collection as “very summery”, with fun colors and luxurious details. As for other advice to up and coming designers, he suggests being socially relevant, adaptable, and ambitions.

Wolff has previously been represented internationally by being chosen as the official designer and judge of the Miss Norway pageant. He has also been able to showcase his garments in New York with supports form the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign affairs. To him, this show is also a major accomplishment, because he will be able to showcase his designs in Paris far sooner than expected. As for the future, he is ambitious, and will use his experience to keep up his momentum, regardless of the competition. If he is to win this competition he will use the money to finance a haute couture embroidery course at Ate Lésage in Paris.

// Nature-inspired Fashion takes over Fall 2012 Runways//

Edited by Sheila Fey

While the Louis Vuitton show on March 7th beckoned high society during the time of steam engines, Versace’s Fall RTW show traveled back to the medieval ages and chainmail. And, it seems like if not inspired by societies past, collections are often inspired by societies present like Chanel’s cultural pre-Fall show in 2011. But this year’s Chanel Fall RTW show presented Karl Lagerfeld’s muse as nature, a refreshing theme apparent throughout this spring’s Fashion Weeks.

Against a backdrop of purple ombré, colossal crystals spurted from the floor of the Grand Palais. In the same way Mexico’s Cueva de los Cristales might inspire disbelief of nature’ wonders, Lagerfeld’s show traversed the line between fantasy and reality. While the clothing remained rooted in the gamut of earth and jewel tones—quite literally in this case—the patterns, accessories and construction itself transformed the theme into whimsical variations. Some long coats, in grays and blacks, were constructed in a way so the sleeves mimicked crystal structures in 3-d. The sweaters were of a 2-d variation, boasting a geometric patchwork of heavy luxurious fabrics. The models’ eyebrows and heels were outfitted in jewels as well—absolutely no detail was left without some mineral effect.

The McQueen show was nature-inspired in real-time. The collection began as restrained as a McQueen show could—skirts and sleeves were like unvarying cream bellflowers—but as Sarah Burton described, the first outfits were only “pods” which would naturally “explode” as the show progressed. And, like her environmentally inspired descriptions, the clothes did grow into forms familiar to nature. The next few pale pink dresses had sewn bits like cherry blossom buds, then bloomed pom-poms. Finally, the dresses exploded with full-on shag, imitating some kind of undersea feather worm in lavender, pink and black. Apparently the organic effect was not without effort. Before the show, nine pairs of hands had to work the pink organza of the final evening gowns to breathe life into the sea anemone-like forms. The result was awe-inspiring, the dresses moved to their own biological rhythms.

The Missoni Fall RTW collection’s connection to nature was perhaps more abstract but no less strong. The pieces evoked the elements, wood grains, minerals, stones, fire, and smoke, but were not as literal as say Lagerfeld’s homage to Mother Nature and her jewels. But perhaps this can be explained by the backstory, which as reported by Style.com, was “a girl who wants to lose herself in the wild but is stuck living in the city.” The clothes were not costume-like, but practical, as the Missoni line goes. The famous pattern was manipulated to seem like tree bark, dressing up pants, skirts and dresses into fancy woodland-wear. A haphazardly tie-dyed and stained effect appeared on the latter shirts and skirts with unfinished seams, imitating burn singes and beauty in nature’s imperfectability. But other than natural inspiration, Missoni’s collection also informed us that fur, leather and knitwear are still in for Fall 2012.

// Bold lips, colorful smokey eyes, retro graphic eyeliner and more at NY Fashion Week! //

Written by Claire Mitchell / Edited by Sheila Fey

From smokey eyes to high cheekbones, Mercedes Benz 2012 New York Fashion Week has highlighted the most talented make up trends for this upcoming Fall. MAC cosmetics took on a partnership with top fashion designers to match the face to the look of this year’s runway outfits. MAC had over 300 of their employees on board at over 85 shows, providing makeup looks for designers such as Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan New York, Alexander Wang, and Tommy Hilfiger. Over the years, MAC has had massive success in creating a flawless face for women, but did they also succeed at mixing the right face to the clothing style for fashion week?

MAC cosmetics took on an edgy playful role for Donna Karan’s Fall line. Sexy red eyeshadow paired with a lighter pink lip was spotted on the runway for Karan’s models. MAC makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury explains that to match Donna Karan’s darker palettes of gray black and reds, “it’s all about the eyes”. For Tilbury, throwing on a classic red lip was not as outstanding as a crimson eyeshadow. Yes, having bright plump red lips makes quite the seductive statement, however it can be distracting from the outfit. Therefore we agree that Tilbury’s idea to brighten up the eyes with the red shadow was brilliant. (Seen below).

Although Donna Karan spiced up the runway with her choice of eyeshadow, designer Christian Siriano stood out best by using a dark purple to gaze attention towards the lips. Siriano’s muse surprisingly derives from a vampire bat. Yes, I said it right, a vampire bat. His strange inspiration collaborated perfectly with his designs from the runway. Lead MAC artist, Polly Osmond, explained that, “The pointed, dark lip look was supposed to appear similar to the wings of a vampire bat.” (Seen in the photo above). Polly continues to explain that in addition to “dark, creepy lips, the face is void of mascara, eyebrow pencil or eyeliner. A bit of blush and the lip shades are all it takes to turn these models into 1930s vampire bats”. Polly created this look with MAC’s “Lip Pencil in Nightmoth” topped with “Mac Lipstick in Media” She then put on a finishing touch of gloss right before the models made their debut. Congratulations to Polly for turning a sinister vampire bat into a stunningly beautiful creature!

For Derek Lam’s show, Estee Lauder artists helped enhance his looks which screamed “naughty schoolgirl.” The inspiring teamwork produced from Estee Lauder’s Tom Pecheux and Derek Lam used “Invisible Fluid Makeup” to create a light foundation that supports a natural look. To continue with the earth tone colors, make up artists of Estee Lauder used a dark shimmering eyeshadow to have the model’s eyes pop. The colors used went along with the grayish color scheme Lam used for his outfits. Pecheux added some lines underneath the eyes to create the illusion of fake lashes to give the models a more naughty look.

NYX Cosmetics made their debut statement on the runway by pairing up with Imitation of Christ. Bringing color to the runway, NYX used a dark blue eyeshadow to help enhance the eyes, which inescapably matched Imitation of Christ’s 70’s era theme. Tina Turnbow, NY’s makeup artist for NYX, says that she wanted to “create a look by NYX Cosmetics that was bold, yet distinctly feminine.” Designer of Imitation by Christ, Tara Subkoff was more than thrilled to join forces with Turnbow because of her wide range of color palette, which ultimately corresponded with the clothing design color scheme of bright blues and gold. (Seen below). It is most definitely pleasing to the eye to see a bit of color to brighten up the runway!

Betsy Johnson called in Charlotte Willer, Maybelline’s Key Makeup Artist to enhance the faces for her 1960’s glam-inspired designs. How? With a lot of pink! Because of this fun playful color scheme, Willer had to develop the models with a sweet enjoyable makeup palette. However, trying to steer away form too much pink, Willer also used “Caffeine Rush” Maybelline collection, which consists of lighter browns. To sparkle things up she had a three-peace glitter addition placed on the eyelids. A simple glisten is just what these models needed to add to the femininity that Betsy wanted.

Prabal Gurung won our vote for most exotic eye makeup, inspired by an Avatar look. Charlotte Tilbury of MAC Cosmetics, who also worked with Donna Karan, talks about working with Gurung on his striking look saying, “The makeup ended up feeling a bit Avatar-ish. But also like, wild birds of paradise. Beetles. Peacocks.”

Tilbury’s mix of teal and green following up the model’s brow line created such a bright electric effect that went perfect with Prabal Gurung’s runway style of bright blues and sequined gold outfits accompanied by a feathery bird look. (Seen below).

The key ingredients for this year for 2012 Fall New York Fashion Week were bold lips, colorful smokey eyes, retro graphic eyeliner, and flawless skin tones. So who was the winner for best makeup artist this year on the runway? The SYNERGY Events unanimously voted for MAC Cosmetics! Using original color palettes for eyes and lips, MAC has brought much attention to the trendy new looks for Fall 2012. Will you be daring enough to try MAC’s bat winged lip look?

// Paris: The Fashion Mecca and Emerging Trends - Paris//

Written By Bridget O’Leary / Edited By Sheila Fey

It is a known fact that Milan, London, and New York City are deemed by many the “fashion capitals” of the world. However, it is often argued that Paris is THE fashion capital and, more specifically, the birth place of haute couture. Home to world-renowned fashion houses such as Chanel, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Chloe, it is undeniable that Paris has a stronghold on the fashion industry and will forever be known for its iconic and ever-changing fashion scene. American Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour reportedly said, “I want Paris to remain the world’s capital of fashion,” and I mean, who could be more powerful in dubbing Paris as the capital of an industry than the editor of the magazine that is called “the Bible of fashion”?

atelierblog.com

Paris unmistakably identifies fashion as a significant aspect of their culture in a flawlessly sophisticated manner. With its impressive amount of designer stores, from those lining the Champs Elysees to the more exclusive shops and boutiques hidden on back streets, one cannot think of Paris without thinking of fashion. The city is known worldwide as a shopaholic’s paradise, and “The Golden Triangle,” Paris’ most exclusive shopping district and home to high-end stores such as Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Chanel, Dior, and Givenchy is for fashionistas almost like what Mecca is to one who practices Muslim. Paris values fashion not only as an integral part of its à la mode culture but also as a central source of revenue for its economy. What sets Paris apart from the rest of the fashion capitals, however, is its rich fashion history and large number of couture fashion houses. Paris is the birthplace of countless legendary designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent, who have shaped the global fashion industry with their designs and have become staples in every high-end fashion district throughout the world.

Although Paris fashions have evolved overtime, one thing remains the same; an emphasis on simplicity and elegance. Current fashion trends in Paris include chic furs, bold statement pieces and rich hues of olive green with pops of color. Both men and women effortlessly perfect these looks with fresh faces, hair that screams “I’m fashionable but I don’t even try,” and simple, yet sophisticated, designs. Nowhere else do you hear the term “haute couture” (or “high fashion” for all you fashion newbies) used so often and that factor continues to lure fashionistas everywhere to visit this magnificent city in hopes of experiencing the trendy yet timeless lifestyle that seems to come so easily to Parisians.

mensylepower.com

Of course, New York, Milan, London and Shanghai exude undeniable style and innovation throughout the world’s fashion industry, it is Paris, with its rich fashion history and achingly classic take on trends,  that will forever be known as the world’s fashion capital.

Who knows- maybe the next designer to join the ranks of Chanel and Dior will be found at our Emerging Trends Paris Fashion Challenge this summer! We are so excited to launch this competition to give global exposure the next generation designers! The winner of the Emerging Trends Fashion Challenge will receive $5,000 USD cash and an opportunity to showcase at the 2012 Boston Fashion Week – The Emerging Trends show as a featured designer or Cannes Loves Fashion in France during the film festival 2012. Winner will also be featured on multiple global trade publications and introduced to multiple upscale boutiques in Europe.

// Fearless Faces- Dare to wear color this fall!//

Edited By: Sheila Fey

The hair and makeup at New York Fashion Week reminded us that a reserved look for fall clothing by no means limits vibrant colors for makeup and vivacioushair. The brightest colors were at Jeremy Scott where models were decked out to look like futuristic rainbow-loving cyborgs, but if icy-blue, purple, or mint-green lips is not a look you want to try outside of your own home, Fashion Week also offered more practical (yet just as fun) looks this past month.

Dewy mustard yellows and purples were unabashedly painted on the eyes of models at VPL by Victoria Bartlett. Heavy cobalt blue, also trendy for this spring, made an appearance at Prabal Gurung and Anna Sui, where the deep shade was painted in striking thick sweeps, modernizing the always classic cat-eye. The updated feline look was a common trend seen in this year’s Fall RTW shows, showing variations from 3.1 Phillip Lim’s highlighter red shades to Tracy Reece’s green, blue, and purple swipes, to the minimalist suggestion of an obsidian line at Rachel Comey. Clean black strokes were also seen at Altazurra, but more heavily disguised at the Zac Posen and Monique Lhuillier shows, where blended layers of shadows only coyly suggested the diagonal shape.

At the Posen show, where MAC Makeup Artist Kabuki described the look as “couture geisha,” the modernized cat-eye was paired with a bright red lip. And it looks like the spring trend of vivid lips is carrying over to the fall, with Ruffian and Thakoon also flirting the rouge and orange lipsticks, respectively.

What the make-up artist at Jason Wu described as a “Hollywood” eye, the bolder take on the winged line of a cat-eye, is reminiscent of the way a strong gust of wind can give an automatic face-lift and pull eyelids tight, which appropriately matches the reigning hair trend seen on the NYFW runways this season.

Whether in buns or in braids, the hair-styles that are definitely in for fall’s everyday-wear, the models’ hair had wind-swept ease, wisps romantically left out and astray. At Marc Jacobs, two braids were rolled into low-hanging buns, a retro Scandinavian feel also seen at Marchesa with the show’s Victorian-style braided halos.

Preen took the idea of wind-swept hair to a whole different extreme, where it seemed like the models’ buns were inadvertently knotted by whirlwind. But if the tussled look isn’t for you, clean ballerina buns and French twists are always classic, at least as the Doo.Ri and Rachel Comey shows seemed to suggest. Though, if you do want to try the haphazard I-just-let-my-hair-dry-by-a-gust-of-wind style, and don’t want to look like you just rolled out of bed, hair jewelry, which is sure to be a key accessory for the fall, can make sure others know its intentional. The barrettes perched in nests of hair at Rodarte and at Tory Burch are perfect gold inspirations to match what is soon-to-be fall’s foliage.

// Color-Block Me Blue//

Written by: Bridget O’Leary

Edited by: Sheila Fey

The most extravagant week in fashion has come to an end and although we are all about ready to put this winter behind us and start to drape ourselves in the beautiful pastels and bright florals that we saw from the Spring/Summer 2012 collections, Mercedes Benz Fashion week is back and has got us thinking of the fall trends to come.

We can always expect darker palettes when it comes to fall fashion, but designers such as Rebecca Minkoff and Nicole Miller have assured us that eye catching bright hues and color-blocking are here to stay. Rebecca Minkoff’s 28 piece collection featured a great deal of color, including golden yellows, olive greens, vibrant reds, deep teals, and attention-grabbing purple statement pieces. This collection embodies a unique sense of color-blocking, with a hint of added texture, as shown below.

Similar characteristics were found in Nicole Miller’s collection, she, however combined floral prints, geometric shapes and vibrant colors. In this collection, she used a water color technique that gave a new value to the color blocking trend. These two designers alone have assured us that fall fashion does not mean ditching spring colors strictly for dark shades.

Charlotte Ronson, Jill Stuart, Phillip Lim and Herve Leger by Max Azria all exemplified a darker color palette but made sure to incorporate blazing hints of color throughout their collection. These collections stayed true to the simplicity of fall colors through shades of brown, deep burgundy, green, black and pure white. Menswear collections displayed much darker tones for fall and a reoccurring color theme of dark navy was frequently spotted walking down the runway, acting as a replacement for typical black attire. Designer Pal Smith made sure to incorporate these navy blue hues throughout his collection and did so without giving the navy an overwhelming feel due to his use of different shades and textures (shown below).

The color trends found at New York Fashion Week have appropriately transcended from sea foam greens, cotton candy pinks and lavenders into rich teals, deep pinks, vibrant reds and intense purples while, those reoccurring fall colors have been given just the right touch of extra embellishment. But for now, get ready to cut back some layers and enjoy the beautiful spring pastels!

// Emerging Trends Spotlight: Maria Rivas//

Written By: Sheila Fey

Meet Venezuelan native, Maria Rivas; an independent fashion designer whose creative ideas have produced everything from feminine frocks to chef coats to rock and roll inspired pieces. Her unique designs are fashion-forward and incorporate current trends, yet are still completely adaptable and wearable which, in the fashion industry, is a key component in the success of a designer.

Throughout Maria’s childhood, she was certain that she wanted to be a fashion designer. At the age of nine, her parents gave her a computer program in which she could create her own designs for Barbie clothes, then actually print and construct the outfits for her dolls.

“I loved it,” she says. “I never thought of being anything other than a fashion designer.”

After graduating from high school, Maria moved to Florida to enroll in The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale to begin her fashion education and take the next step towards reaching her goal. Soon after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design in 2009, Maria’s designs were featured in fashion shows such as the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale’s “Tribute Show” and an independent art and fashion show that she and her fellow students organized called, “The Show.” Maria’s collection for “The Show” was inspired by the waist-cinching styles of the 1940s and 50s and was well-received by the audience.

After establishing her fashion identity in Florida, Maria was eager to broaden her horizons and show her designs outside of the Sunshine State. She applied for and earned a slot in The Emerging Trends fashion show in Boston, MA, an annual fashion show organized by The SYNERGY Events in which the work of new and promising designers is showcased.

“Boston and [Fort Lauderdale/Miami] are totally different targets in regards to styles and trends,” she explains. “This was very interesting and challenging for me.”

For Emerging Trends, Maria’s collection was again inspired by the 40’s and 50’s, with a modern twist.

“[The collection] enhanced the waist and the female silhouette,” She explains. “It is very romantic and chic at the same time, and it is a collection that any girl can wear.”

Maria believes that her collection was so well-received at Emerging Trends because of its versatility and the pieces’ ability to mix and match well, which Maria says is a key part of Boston fashion.

Being a part of the Emerging Trends show was a definite step in the right direction for the designer. The SYNERGY Events gave her and other designers everything they needed, from hair stylists to assistants, to put on a show of extremely high quality that was seen by major press, buyers, and many other influential members of Boston’s fashion industry. The show provides an ideal platform for new designers to have their collections seen by the right people.

“[Emerging Trends] was a great opportunity for me to meet a lot of different industry people, models, hair and makeup artists, and photographers from Boston,” she says.

Maria’s ultimate goal is to open her own designer boutique where she can sell her original designs and offer styling tips to her customers. She would also like to integrate her sister’s skills in graphic design and photography into her business.

// Trends from New York Fashion Week - Shoes That Kill//

Men’s and women’s shoe trends feature deep colors and new takes on classic boots!

Written by: Claire Mitchell, Edited by: Sheila Fey

With New York being the capital of fashion in the United States, it is inevitable that Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week will introduce the hottest items for this season and beyond, specifically the shoes that will certainly be hitting the nation’s streets come autumn. Kicking off this fall’s Fashion Week has been the constant buzz about men and women’s trending shoes from the runway. From ankle to thigh-high boots, there has been a vast variety of innovative styles produced for this season for both men and women to show off their struts and strides.

Each year designers have a theme to go along with their runway show. For instance, last year Donna Karan’s theme was “Pearls of Wisdom,” which not only coincided with her color scheme, but also targeted the elegant woman. This year Karan spun a creative 180 and focused on more of a suitable strong theme, presenting power to women. The question is, does Donna Karan’s pin stripe and dark colored pallet pair with her shoe collection for the fall? We answer yes at The SYNERGY Events. She matched well using her darker color design with burgundy, navy and a hint of fuchsia. The shoe collection not only matched the “power woman” theme, they were also able to weave in their fashion forward ideas, like the tie-up heels seen below.

Donna Karan was not the only success of Fashion Week; other designers paired the runway perfectly from the model to the dress and shoe. This year burgundy and navy have been trending for each designer. Alexandra Wang featured the color on her leather thigh high boots with exposed stitching. Wang’s idea to match it with a burgundy color suit was less than intriguing. We understand the concept that Wang did not want to take away from neither the boot nor suit but burgundy on burgundy is just as unpleasing to the eye as jean on jean. Fortunately the boot triumphs over the outfit!

As women are constantly adding detail to express our femininity, luckily this year’s designers were able to do just that with a touch of exposed stitching, as seen in the above photograph. This developing style was persistent throughout the runway shows. Rag & Bone exposed this style using an ankle boot with a lace to tie the look together.

Ankle booties have made a stampeding trend on the runway, especially for Christian Siriano’s line for Payless. From buckles to snakeskin, Siriano’s ankle style has made its statement. Christian Siriano embellishes his black suede ankle boot by combing a silver toe with a gold buckle. Glamour Magazine’s fashion experts share their thoughts on Christian’s interesting blend, saying “According to Christian, the Estella boot is a ‘go-to, wear-it-with-everything’ style. I think it’s a leetle more special and daring than that but maybe I’m just boring.”

This repeating trend for ankle boots will never retire because of the inventive styles by designers like Siriano (above).

Rodarte is also an innovator and won over the eyes of many with their use of color and beads for their Spring 2011 show with their attempt at recreating Van Gogh’s “starry night” painting in their shoe. Jane Herman from “The Daily Shoe” comments, “The shoes, designed by Burak Uyan for Rodarte, completed the theme and included a mirrored ‘star’ sandal and this draped leather heel with a pixilated, Swarovski-encrusted ankle strap.”

This year, Rodarte succeeded again with their use of beads. This time, they were inspired by Native-American styles with their suede texture and pony hair to complete the look. Rodarte’s consistency is admired by many and will always be praised for their inspirational looks.

Much attention is always paid to women’s looks at New York Fashion week, whether it is a small detail like exposed stitching on a shoe or the incredible thigh high and lace tied boots. We at The SYNERGY Events agree that NY fashion week has highlighted some of the most interesting inventions by high-end designers made for women, but what about men?

Men’s shoe styles have always been simple and lack of character, but this year has changed that connotation with Former Versace designer Alexandre Plokhov. Plokhov has taken the women’s tie up boot to create a masculine, fashionable, above the ankle boot for men.

The strong bold color of black emphasizes the masculinity to the boot. Plokhov continues with the trending maroon color for their men’s collection, much like the women’s fall shoe colors. The added heel to this boot adds a confident style along with the exposed designed stitching seen below. Tim Blanks of Style.com says Plokhov’s dark designs are “Something else that referred back to his time with the iconic Italian label: the absolute rejection of color in his own collection. A gothic darkness ruled.”

DKNY took a separate turn from Plokhov by keeping their men’s shoe simple and classy. For the working man in the office DKNY has a sleek black shoe to go perfect with any suit. For the working man in the field, DKNY produced a rugged yet fashionable boot.

DKNY kept their color scheme of grays, blacks and tans. Last year, Donna Karan used military themed colors and targeted a younger audience with the style used, this included colors of green and striped patterns. The Pinstripe Magazine staff agreed that “Her signature black and dark look is also back and it sure suits the youthful man of 2011.”

Joseph Abboud used a similar style as Donna Karan using a mix of a businessman and an outdoorsman. However, Joseph’s style is more relatable to a loafer than a work shoe.

The staff at GQ Magazine say of Abboud, “These unlikely combinations mingled with equally curious colors, from pinkish brown to you-stay-classy burgundy to winter white… blended together, it all became a two-pronged look: one part super-fly businessman, one part tree-chopping outdoorsman.”

This year, both the men and women sported similar trends. From the darker color pallet to the exposes stitching, New York fashion week is becoming a remarkable success. The SYNERGY Events team will undoubtedly be the first to wear Rodarte’s Native American inspired pump this fall!
